Seahawks Russell Okung to miss 2-4 weeks with ankle sprain
Tackle Russell Okung’s ankle injury will keep him out two to four weeks, according to Jason LaCanfora of NFL Network and NFL.com.
In my inquiries Sunday, I was told that it was in fact a sprained ankle, and the MRI detected nothing more serious than that.
As for the recovery timetable, everybody should hold off a bit before starting to project potential readiness for the season-opener.
There is an advantage for the team in keeping the severity and timetable for recovery uncertain. The fact the projected recovery time is either right before or right after the season-opening game against San Francisco is awfully convenient for keeping an opponent guessing. Not saying the projected timetable is incorrect, but only that it’s uncertain.
The important thing here is that this is not a season-ending or prolonged absence. It is something that will heal and Okung will be back on the line. Not as soon as Seattle would like, but he will be back.
But again, a word of caution before everyone starts breaking down just when the big fellow is going to be back at left tackle.
I'm eager to hear your comments...
